Fiberglass Handrail Systems

SAFRAIL™ FRP handrails are railing systems used in commercial and industrial applications for guardrails, stair rails and platform/walkway handrails. Each system is assembled from pultruded fiberglass components and molded thermoplastic connectors. SAFRAIL™ systems are particularly well-suited to corrosive environments like those found in industrial, chemical and wastewater treatment plants as well as commercial structures with urban and salt air corrosion.

   
 

 

Advantages of Fiberglass Handrail Systems

SAFRAIL™ has been manufactured more than forty years in a wide variety of applications, and offers these advantages:

 

Low Maintenance
Virtually no maintenance is required in fiberglass railing systems featuring molded-in color plus an optional tough polyurethane coating which outlasts aluminum and steel systems.


Ease of Assembly
Handrail systems can be either installed on-site with simple carpenter tools or assembled during fabrication and shipped to the site in large sections. All components are lightweight and easy to install, including post and beam sections.

 

Cost Effective
No downtime for repairs in plant operations, ease-of-assembly, and rugged durability make fiberglass handrails a cost-saver on labor and maintenance, resulting in long-term savings.

 

Safety Features
SAFRAIL™ fiberglass handrail systems come in a standard “safety yellow color”, feature low electrical conductivity for worker safety and exhibit high strength. Systems meet federal OSHA standards with a 2:1 factor of safety with a 6-foot (1830mm) maximum post spacing. SAFRAIL™ systems also comply with international standard AFNOR NF E 85-101.

 

Internal Connection System
The components of FRP handrails all fit together flush, creating a pleasing streamlined appearance. The internal connections allow the construction of continuous handrail systems without special fittings.

 

UV Coating
In addition to the standard polyester resin system, FRP railing systems can come with an industrial grade polyurethane coating for additional protection in outdoor applications.

 

Resin Systems
Polyester is standard for fiberglass handrail systems but other resin systems are available upon request.

 
      Square Handrail
The square fiberglass handrail system meets OSHA strength requirements with a 2:1 safety factor with 6-foot maximum post spacing. Square handrails have no visible rivets or metal parts, internally bonded fiberglass connectors, and a UV inhibitor for additional resistance to ultraviolet degradation and corrosion. Square handrail systems are the most commonly used: they are the most economical industrial handrail, useful for high traffic areas, and easily fabricated in the field. 		 
    Round Handrail
Round fiberglass handrail systems are easy to grip and pleasing to the eye and to the touch, with 90º molded corners which eliminate sharp edges. Round handrail systems meet OSHA strength requirements with a 2:1 safety factor with 5-foot maximum post spacing. Round fiberglass handrails have internally bonded fiberglass connectors, which means no visible rivets or metal parts. The handrail system includes a UV inhibitor for additional resistance to ultraviolet degradation and corrosion. Round handrails are commonly used in food and agricultural environments due to the fact that they collect very little dust and debris.		    
     

Custom Fiberglass Handrail Systems


Standard color is "safety yellow", but other colors are available upon request. The manufacturing plant shown left has white fiberglass handrails, to fit aesthetically with the beauty of the area.

 

Coatings and resins, are available upon request to enhance the longevity of the handrailing system
